Golf Vacation Packages

The great advantage of golf vacation packages is that you can combine a great hobby with other leisure activities and include your family in the equation too. It has become quite a fashion to buy golf vacation packages to exotic destinations that are famous for their luxurious golf resorts. Thus you can enjoy your favorite sport in a unique atmosphere: listening to the waves crushing against the shores while swinging for the perfect shot in the shade of a palm tree. Most travel agencies target golfers with special golf vacation packages and all-inclusive offers.

Furthermore it has also become common practice to combine business trips with golf vacation packages. For instance, instead of sending a group of executives for a team building reunion, a company receives discounts for larger golf vacation packages and sends its stuff to do business and golf. Hotels provide golf facilities too, beside the major courses, thus making it possible to preserve privacy and peace in the most diplomatic of ways. Studies have shown that business relationships are much more solid when dealt in a relaxed atmosphere and golf vacation packages offer the right solution for the matter.

Very often golf vacation packages include golf classes for beginners; maybe you’ve never even tried to hold a club before, but you’d definitely like the idea. This is one great idea of fun and practical spirit that you must absolutely grasp. Given the fact that most of the golf vacation packages are usually all-inclusive, even if you’re not a golf player you feel like taking the challenge of trying something new. One of the most famous golf resorts in the world, for instance, Kapalua in Maui, has its own local Golf Academy, where you can always learn new stuff all year round.

A golf vacation package to Maui would surely change your image about golf, as this is the place where real professional competitions take place every year at the prestigious PGA Tour Mercedes Championships. Besides great sports opportunities a golf vacation package brings the chance to know different places and do things you’ve never done before. All may seem to revolve around golf when you buy a golf vacation package, but once you get there to actually live it, you realize that to a certain extent golf was a simple pretext. Thus you will cherish all the aspects of a perfect vacation: sports fun, gorgeous scenery and a welcomed change for your family.

My first stop to answer a Q like this is always Google. I entered "golf vacation" +Phoenix and was rewarded by 302,000 hits!

I have to believe that if you can post a Q on YA you can pull off a Google search.

Relying on the recommendation of one or two YA members who may have gone to a resort in Phoenix or Tuscon doesn't feel like a comprehensive and foolproof technique to me. I'd say get busy on the Internet and then go to a good old-fashioned travel agent and see what they have insofar as packages and evaluations.

You might also call a few of the courses you want to play and see if they have an affiliation with a hotel or a tour operator.

Have fun when you get there and hit 'em straight and long!

Myrtle Beach or Florida would be the choices to look at, but most intensive golf schools where you go for four or five days don't allow for much beach time. You usually take instruction in the morning and then play 18 holes in the afternoon. Then hit balls at the range after your round, have dinner and get up and do it again the next day.

There are several great courses around the Phoenix / Scottsdale area that will be very different from the layouts you are used to. A couple to consider would be:

Wie-Ko-Pah in Fountain Hills (east of Scottsdale)
The Raven at Verrado in Goodyear (west valley)
Sun Ridge Canyon in Fountain Hills
    Great Eagle in Fountain Hills
    TPC Desert Course in Scottsdale
    Kierland Links in Scottsdale
    Sanctuary in Scottsdale
    Vistal in South Phoenix

There are many more, but these are some of my favorites. Each (with the exception of Kierland) are desert courses with some great views, etc. Rates for those courses in September would range from around $50 (Vistal) to somewhere near $110 (Wie-Ko-Pah). There are always internet specials and the Thursday edition of the Arizona Republic always carries golf coupons in the sports section.

The top four listed are my favorites in the area and are playable at a reasonable rates. The Raven is a bit of a drive from Scottsdale (50 miles) but worth the drive and they take care of their visitors.

    Good luck

I go to Hilton Head with my family 4 times a year — April, July, October and December. (we have a house down there). My dad usually goes down in August or September for a "boys week" with his brothers and they play golf. He said the prices go down in september. As to where we played Sea Pines Ocean Course in April and it was like $175 each — he said its a lot less expensive than that.. but still expensive for some people. Hilton Head is not a cheap place to live or vacation.. depending on where you go. I know there are some nice inexpensive hotels in the Forest Beach and Coligny Square area. Depending on how many people are going… it might be cheaper to rent a condo or small house. Just google golf courses in Hilton Head — read about some of them and then call and they will be able to tell you about how much it will be for when your planning on coming. Its hard to say since you didn't mention what months or anything. I have a cousin who owns a golf management company down there and he runs 4 different courses — so if I knew the months, I could give you an average per course. Anyway, I hope they enjoy the trip!!

since u have mentally decided it and planned hope for the best service. A last minute change may reflect in ur enjoyment as u might think the other one might have been the best. No one can assure u 100% satisfaction at all places.May be ur dissatisfaction once to change ur plan now might lead to more dissatisfaction than the planned trip.So have a nice time as planned.

Myrtle FREAKIN Beach is the place to go !!!
We go 2 or 3 times a year (two 1 week trips and 1 long weekend).
Two M.B. golf schools made Golf Magazine's top 25… classicswing.com and ritson-sole.com. I ALWAYS use Laura at Golfdesk.com for ALL my golf/hotel (or condo) package deals… she's GREAT !!!
