Staying at Paris Hotels
Posted on | November 25, 2009 | 18 Comments

For some people who love to travel, Paris is a must visit city. The city of love is always open for business. The romance of seeing the Eiffel Tower close and in person is something everyone should try to do at least once.
One may think that they are walking into a movie when they gaze for the first time at all Paris has to offer. There are hotels all over Paris. The Paris Hotels are more expensive than other parts of the country because Paris is where everyone goes. Paris Hotels can be anywhere within the city. Some are close to the center walkway close to the tower, and from there they begin to slowly spread out.
France now uses the Euro as the main money exchange. As was said earlier, the hotels will be pricier than what most people would be used to in the states. Most Americans will only visit once in their life if even that much.
Staying in some nice Paris Hotels will be fun and most want to at least try to stay close to everything. Paris Hotels will look different than places in the states because it is an entirely different culture. People adapt quickly and Paris has added things that Americans like.
Adapting To Paris Hotels And France
Something that may shock people when they first arrive is that everyone else speaks French. This should of course be expected but for people who have never traveled outside of the states, it can shock them.
Thankfully, there are many people who also speak English and can help those travelers who may seem lost. Most Paris Hotels have lobby personnel that speak English well enough to help out in checking in and finding the room.
The same as any other major city, the traveler will want to have rooms reserved before they land in Paris. This can be done by the individual or with the help of a travel agent.
If this is the first time for someone, it might be better to use a travel agent. They will know the ins and outs and some have been there before and can make suggestions for people.
Travel agents can even book a trip that is all inclusive and allows some freedom while making sure that the person sees everything that they came to see.
The museums are wonderful to see and of course the local cuisine must be tasted. There is so much to do in the city that one may not stay long in the Paris Hotel accommodations.

You really need to stay in Paris itself to make the most of the city. The airport is too far away to commute as a tourist.
There are so many hotels in Paris that's it's almost impossible to suggest one that might suit you. It all depends on your budget, where in the city you'd like to stay, and what you expect of a hotel. Have a look at Trip Advisor's hotel reviews to get some ideas: http://www.tripadvisor.com
There are various ways of getting from the airport into Paris. Air France run shuttle buses (cost around 16euros) to Gare de Lyon and Gare Montparnasse, Porte Maillot and Arc de Triomphe. You can get the bus outside any CDG terminal.
Then you have a choice of RER train, taxi or other shuttles. This page from the CDG airport website provides details on all the options: http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/Access-maps-car-parks/Paris-CDG/Access/public-transport/
Could I suggest you also get a small guidebook to Paris, as this will give you answers to most, if not all, of your questions.

If I had all the money in the world, I would stay at the Ritz Carlton. The one in Paris is the original, and it's always been the mark to meet for all other hotels.
Of course, I haven't, and I'll probably stay in some privately owned little pension when I go. but that's a whole different experience, but still a good one.

Gare de l'Est.
However, please note that Paris is such a compact city that all the major train stations are "close" to any address in Paris proper.

To the User who posted above me. If the parent's book the hotel with their card, the poster will have to take their parent's card with them to verify their identity at the hotel etc.
SO the situation could be a bit tricky as most of the hotel's in Paris will need to verify with the card you booked your reservation with.
And yes you can stay in paris at the age of 17 but i advise you to book the hotel with your OWN credit card if your parents are NOT going with you on this trip. Unless your parents allow you to book with their card and take the card with you on the trip?

This is a suburb some 6 miles from the center of Paris. Its about a 15 minute ride on the RER E into the city.
Its a reasonably safe area but rather inconvenient for a tourist. If you are going to Paris for a vacation it would make absolutely no sense whatever to stay there.
Paris proper (the 20 numbered arrondissments) is relatively free of serious crime and one of the safest major capital cities in the world. There is no area of Paris that I would regard as "bad" although some of the northeast arrondissements are sometimes so described because they are more ethnically diverse.

There is not much to do at the Paris expect the Eiffel Tower experience but you walk to the Bellagio and see the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and the Bellagio fountains for free.

From CDG take the RER B train to Gare du Nord and transfer to Metro line 4 (direction:Porte de Clignancourt) and take that to the Barbes-Rochechouart station. Your hotel is a 7 minute walk from the station.
To get to Disneyland from your hotel go to the Anvers Metro station and take Metro line 2 (Direction : Porte Dauphine (Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny)) to the Charles de Gaulle-Etoile stop. Transfer to the RER A (Direction : Marne-la-Vallee Chessy) and take it to the end of the line. The entrance to Disneyland is right there.

I stayed at the Paris the last trip to Vegas in December 06. When you check in ask for a non-smoking room, if that's what you want and a King bed, and also ask for a high floor with a view. If they are not booked solid or crowded they will try to give you what you request. You will not get an upgrade to a suite, but they will try to accommodate you. You do know when you book your room you can also ask for non-smoking at that time.
The hotel room we got was really nice. Besides the king bed it had a love seat as well as another easy chair. It had a huge, like maybe 42 inch, flat panel TV. The bathroom was nice and had a shower stall seperate from the tub.
Regardless of whether you are a big gambler go immediately to the player's club desk and get a card. Use it whenever you play the slots (or tables) in Paris (you can use the same card in Ballys and Flamingo) so that you accumulate points for your play. You may not earn enough points for a free room this time, but next time you go, and if you want to stay a Paris again, call the number on the back of the card to make room reservations. They will probably give you a reduced rate.
If you are not a big gambler, play the penny slots which require 15 to 30 cents per play to cover all of the lines. You can get lucky on them and win some money.

Play around with the departure and arrival date to get a good deal. This is especially important if you are booking a hotel and a flight for vacation. Sometimes, just a couple days of difference will save you hundreds of dollars on flights and hotel fees.
If possible, don't book vacation packages (flights / hotel) during peak season. You can easily save a lot of money by avoiding the peak travel seasons.
