Tips to Plan Out a Great Beach Vacation
Posted on | December 10, 2009 | 9 Comments

An annual visit to places like Florida, San Diego for beach vacation must be on everybody’s calendar. As beach vacation gives you chance to relax, catch up on reading, enjoy dinner by the water and to refresh your lungs with fresh sea air.
A beach vacation in other words means basking in the sun by the vast blue sea, and diving into the water occasionally to swim, surf, snorkel, whatever. It can also be a chance to spend much required quality time with your family if you opt for a properly planned family vacation package.
And a beach vacation is not only for romantic couples. A Florida or San Diego beach vacation is actually quite preferred by swimmers, surfers and whole lot of other people with varied interests.
As for the kids, try and forget those buckets and spades and you have had it! Sand castles are a universal favorite for children, across boundaries!
Not to forget the youth, there are options galore for their entertainment. They may visit pubs, discos, clubs, and meet a lot of new people. The social factor is what makes beach vacations memorable one. With so many people milling around the beach, there is always a chance that you would make some new friends and have wonderful time with them. But for that proper planning is must.
Following tips to choose the perfect destination would come handy while planning your next beach vacation:
1. Do spend time to check out the location’s reputation as to what they have to offer and if it suits your vacation’s aim. Like if it is a subdued and relaxing vacation you have in mind, you don’t want to spend it at Daytona Beach during springs or
if it is the girl’s getaway you are planning you don’t want it to be at a hot spot for single seniors.
2. Enquire about the prices prevailing in the surrounding areas as with popular spots, prices are on the higher side and may be out of your budget while a quiet beach front location just a few miles down the road might be just as beautiful but available at a more reasonable price.
3. If you are going for a family vacation package, ask the hotel or resort you are going to stay in about their policies regarding kids and pets. Some popular resorts also offer kid-specific programming so parents can have a getaway too. And, for those who’d rather not play with the tots, there are destinations that advertise as kid-free.
4. Don’t forget to check the weather and the ideal time to visit your favored beach location. It is very important as weather can be the best or the worst thing about your vacation. You don’t want to be in Maine in March, you don’t want to be in Florida for hurricane season, and you don’t want a San Diego beach vacation during the rainy seasons. Browse Internet, ask the local guys, or go through a travel guide to find out the details of weather at your destination around your visit time.
A beach vacation is great idea as you will feel much healthier when you come back! Your skin will have an attractive brown complexion; your muscles will be strengthened from the swimming! You will discover that you have never led such a healthy way of living.

miami beach is a great place to vacation. one tip – if you're staying on the beach, don't bother renting a car – you won't need it! just take a cab or limo service to the hotel and back and everything else will be in walking distance. the airport is only about 5 miles from the beach so it's not that expensive of a ride.
for going out, you should check out the club scene for sure – look on their websites (most popular are Mansion, LIV, Cameo) to see what's going on and then also check promoter's websites on myspace and facebook to get in and get drinks for free – groups of girls dressed up really nice can usually get in and you don't want to be standing in line somewhere! you can dance at all of these clubs, but unless you're getting men to pay for you be prepared to spend $15/drink.
for shopping on the beach definitely check out the Lincoln Road mall and the rest of the shops are spread out on Collins. you'll find a junky souvenir shop every block, but there are some other great boutiques and chain stores as well.
i wouldn't worry about anything other than those few activities you mentioned – most people i know who vacay on the beach end up with a schedule like this: sleep in til about 11, beach from then to the sun almost goes down, nap/get ready, dinner, go out 12-5am, and repeat!
have fun!

I would stay close to Broadway at the Beach. That way if you want to drink your in walking distance back to your hotel and you don't have to worry about drunk driving. The only problem is you want have an oceanfront hotel here.
Broadway at the Beach has great night life and clubs as well as eatery's and shopping places. It also has the aquarium and a putt putt place. We barely left Broadway while my DH and I were on our honeymoon.
Barefoot's landing also has great shops and has a lot of theaters if you like shows.
If you like amusment parks MB has just opened a Theme Park called Hard Rock Park.
Send off for a vacation guide to see everything so you can get an idea on where you want to go. You can also get coupons for 10% off of a meal or free appetizer when you send off for these.

Don't get a timeshare!
Find a condo to stay in – they are the best deals, and you get a kitchen so you can save on food (going out is expensive there) and you'll have a washer and dryer which is great with kids so you can wash the swimsuits, towels, etc. You can search for condos online. Here is a site. I'm sorry I've only been to Poipu (on Kauai) twice and that was for work so they put me up in a hotel, but I've been to Maui lots of times and lived there too, and I always stay in a condo when I go back.
Here's a site that lists some condos to rent in Poipu.

Hmmm…first you need to go back in time. Once you've mastered that, finding a two-bedroom apartment under $1000 should be a snap! Just 'cause those apartments you found online are expensive doesn't mean they're fancy, let me tell you! Doesn't mean you're close to the beach or that the breeze blows all the way through your un-air-conditioned apartment on a hot summer night.
Keep in mind there are people in Hawaii working two or three jobs, in their late twenties with a couple of kids, but still living with their parents because they can't affort a two bedroom apartment. There are also many Native Hawaiians moving to places like Oregon and Las Vegas because they can't afford to live in their native land anymore.
Seems there are a bunch of folks on North America and other continents–God knows where they get their money–who like to come to Hawaii to live for fun part of the year. They drive up the home prices and rents, making it a struggle for anyone who actually lives here.
I lived in a dorm on Oahu for years. When I came back to Hawaii, I knew it had to be in such a way that I could stay, and in such a way that I wasn't taking a job from somebody local. That's why I work in a public school in a rural area, where the skin is brown and the test scores are low.
At the same time, I know the chances of me ever being able to buy a home are pretty slim. Right now on my full-time professional salary, I might get a 30-year mortgage on a small, remote vacant lot. I can't even afford to buy a studio condo where I can't keep pets.
That's the reality, and that's why many people stay in Hawaii for a week or two, and then go back where they can afford to live.
You want to live in Hawaii for a year or two? Get to know the people? Get your teaching certificate and live in subsidized teacher housing in a rural area for a couple of years. But don't let anybody tell you it's going to be easy.

Great family vacation.First, check the weather as soon as you get there or before hand, go to the beach on the warmest days. As you check in, ask about events for the week. Make sure you find out if any of the parks or areas are closed. Do you belong to AAA? They have great info there. If not, ask someone that does. They could pick up maps, upcoming show info, etc. I would suggest going to the parks just after breakfast or when the parks open (less crowded). Zip when people Zag. I mean, go to the back of the park first cuz most people start right in the front. You will have the run of the place (back of the place I mean). Don't forget to catch the daily parade at Disney. Then, take the afternoon easy, relax with boating or in your room, napping helps cuz you will want to schedule an activity for the evening, go to dinner then catch a show (Lion King was there when we visited) and then the evening fireworks. Last but not least, schedule a "Character Breakfast", my kids loved this, we had breakfast with Tigger and Winnie the Pooh. You have to check this out as soon as you get there. It fills up quickly. Your hotel desk can give you info of who's available at what hotel for breakfast or lunch. Have a blast!

Here are some ideas for an affordable trip:
- Get free ice water from the counter service places in the Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios. You can always bring those little envelopes of flavoring from Crystal Light or whatever to add to it to make it yummy. Free drink!
- For a cheap meal at any of the parks get a double cheeseburger and ask for an extra bun (usually costs only 70 cents) and then you split the double burger to make two burgers for the same price basically!
- To see the characters at the Magic Kingdom make sure you go to Mickey's judge's house when it opens right away to avoid lines. You can also get there before the official opening to see the rope dropping ceremony.
- Also for free things to do try going to Downtown Disney. There are lots of street performers and a lego store with a huge amount of legos to play with (for free!) that I'm sure your boys would love. There is also a store there called Goofy's candy company and you can get customized chocolate creations for a really low price! (three pretzel rods customized dipped for $2.75)
- Another tip if you have a free evening you can stop by Disney's Polynesian and tell them you want to visit the restaurant and you can get a three hour parking pass. Then you can go to the beach and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from there. 15 minutes later the electric water pageant will go by on the lake. All for free!
- You can also ride the monorail for free. Ask nicely and your boys can sit up in front with the driver and get a little license for driving the monorail!
- Get into the pressed pennies for souvenirs since those are cheap and still help you remember your good times!
Make sure to only bring a soft cooler to Disneyworld. Hard coolers are not allowed.

Make sure you have a good sturdy carrier for him. Its dangerous to have him loose in the car, not only for you but for him and other people on the road as he'd be a distraction.
You can probably belt him in in the backseat, or, if you have a minivan where the trunk is a part of the cabin, in there, as long as he's a part of the air conditioning. It helps if he can't see the road, not only is it distressing, but it can cause (more) road sickness.
Make sure to make frequent road stops where you offer him food, fresh water (I always take bottled water and give it to my pets, then I'm sure it's clean) and a chance for a leg-stretch and a do-your-duty, every two hours at least.
And never leave him, needless to say, in the car alone. These days temperatures can rise to over 100F in a car in just minutes, suffocating a dog, especially a smaller one.
Hopefully, his shots are up to date as that will prevent him from any illness.
Make sure you keep him on his leash and he has a collar on at all times, with identification of his owner in case he gets lost.

Myrtle Beach, you can share an oceanfront room for about $100 a night.
