Top 10 Beaches in Turkey

The Finest Beaches of Turkey

When people think of grand beaches, they generally think of places like California, Florida or Hawaii, but they rarely think of a country like Turkey. Despite being under-publicised, holidays to Turkey offer a wide variety of beaches that stretch along the Mediterranean Sea.

In this article, we will take a look at the top ten beaches found in Turkey.

Patara Beach: Patara is the longest beach in the Mediterranean, and was hailed by The Sunday Times as the best beach in the world. Accommodations are limited, loungers and umbrellas are available to rent, and it is backed by ancient ruins and dunes.

Oludeniz Beach: Oludeniz is Turkey’s most famous beach, and therefore in peak seasons, is the most crowded. There are good hotels to stay at, very good bars, water sports available, scuba diving and is surrounded with resorts.

Olimpos: If you want a more relaxed, romantic atmosphere, this is the beach for you. It is far more secluded and smaller than the other two beaches mentioned so far, and is backed by a forest, which is filled with Roman ruins.

Side: Side is only an hour away from the airport, and is very popular with holiday groups. There is a village and a beach filled with fine sand, as well as some Roman ruins to explore nearby.

Iztuzu Beach: Iztuzu Beach is a national conservation area, and is one of the last breeding places in Europe of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle. It can only be reached by a 20 minute boat ride from the nearby town of Dalyan. There is a lot of beach, and the water is warm and shallow. Nearby, there are some cliff tombs you can explore as well.

Cleopatra’s Beach (Alanya): Alanya is one of the biggest resorts found in Turkey, and Cleopatra’s beach is splendid and very popular. The beach and resort offer great accommodations, facilities and things to do. There is also an old fortress nearby.

Kemer: Kemer is basically a seaside town built along the sea. There are a number of small beaches you can visit, as well as many day-trip opportunities. Most of the beaches are made up of small pebbles, although there are a few with sandy beaches.

Bodrun: Bodrun is home to the original mausoleum, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is also home to the Castle of St Peter, which used to be a crusader fortress but now serves as the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. The beaches in town are small, but many people visit them as an afterthought to sightseeing.

Pamucak Beach: Most of the beach is public, but on the south side there are some resorts. It is close to the Aqua Fantasy water park, and there is a small hotel where you can get refreshments and amenities. The water is pretty choppy, and there aren’t any life guards, so be careful.

Sinop: Sinop has many fascinating things to see, and the beaches are small. Because the water comes from the Black Sea, it can be rather chilly too.

This is really a tough questions because 7-10 days in Turkey just the tip of the iceberg to see some of the great areas. My guess would be to spend about 3-4 days in Istanbul to see some of the major sites but of course you can spend many more. Certainly the places of Ephesus ( Selcuk ) and Cappadocia are not to be missed and for some time on a beach and ancient history along the Lycian coastline check out the areas between Antalya and Fethiye.

have a look at the Turkey travel Planner web site for helpful ideas..

Two Weeks (11-15 Days) in Turkey

    http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/itin/11to15Days/index.html

Spend a couple of days in Istanbul (maybe about 3-4 days)

Fly to Cappadocia for 3 days.

As you can see already you have filled up at least 7 days…

Either rent a car (600 kms, about 9 hours) or take an overnight bus to Antalya.

Explore the coast between Antalya and Fethiye-300 kms of very nice Turkish mediteranean coast. (Cirali-Olympos, Kas- Kalkan, Fethiye, OluDeniz) That part might take another 3-4 days.

(Option to the Med coast and Cappadocia)…Drive to Pamukkale, see it and drive to Selcuk (in one day you can do this)

(Option to the Med coast and Cappadocia)…From Selcuk you can visit Ephesus, and then fly back to Istanbul from Izmir airport, which is 60 kms to Selcuk. (you can leave the car at the airport)

This is a very vague itinenarary but I guess you will end up doing something similar to this. There are lots of very interesting historical, natural sites on this itinerary.

You can take buses, fly or rental car for transport..

Power plugs/adaptors – Turkey operates on 220 volts, 50 Hz, with round-prong European-style plugs (see the photo to the right) that fit into recessed wall sockets/points.

boat trips are everywhere along the coastal areas..plus a boat cruise on the Bosphorus in Istanbul is excellent.

bascially pick 2 or three destinations and work a trip from there…that is about all you can see in 7 days..you really need at least 2-3 weeks..

OK, if you want this guy to be your boyfriend do not sleep with him before he becomes officially your bf. He will automatically only see you as a person he has "fun" with. Could be different for everybody but I think that's how it usually works. It sounds like he is definitely interested in you and he isn't pushing you to do anything even though you sent those messages. I think you should keep seeing each other, and see how it goes. Good luck! Sounds exciting : )

you cant be serious, there is no way to know since they come and go, and give it up. That was years ago and its a moot point. Get on with life and forget it now.

omg Even though you are kind of crappy writer that was such a heart-wrenching story. You have to call him and tell him how you feel. How could you have spent all that time with him and not tell him how you feel? You have to. That's the best answer I can give you.

If you wanna have sex.. go for it.. Im sure no straight guy would turn you down.. The other thing about more than friendship as in relationship… Tough to answer, if the guy just wants to get in your pants he will try to the first chance he gets, but if he goes out with you a few times without trying and seems like he enjoys your company, I would say he is interested in something more aswell.. But in order to find out, you need to hang out more.. You should see how long it takes him to contact you (without you calling him) and also if he asks you to go out somewhere.. Then if you feel like it's right to move in on a kiss go for it.. nothing bad can happen (only he will come out and say he is gay or seeing someone)

Okay, I'm a little confused. You didn't want to sleep with him but you told him casual sex was okay?
Well, If that is infact what you said and he agreed with it, then why would you not make a move? Clearly he wants you also. So that is a definite go ahead.
You say you want more than friendship, if you do want more than friendship and that means a romantic relationship, not just sex, then I wouldn't sleep with him. Personally anyway.
As for what he is feeling… I couldn't tell you. He sounds like he is definitely up for the sex, but other then that it's normally pretty hard to tell when it comes to guys. His thank you text to you could mean he likes you and just wanted to show you he was thinking about you, or it could have just popped into his mind randomly, or he could just be being nice to get into your pants. Who knows?

Hope I helped. If not then sorry, just ignore it.
