Where To Find Cheap Vacations? No Problem!

A lot of people are in search of cheap vacations they could avail of so that they could make the most of what they could afford. The question in these people’s minds is this: where exactly could we find packages offering cheap vacations?

Alas, finding cheap vacations is not the answer. The power is in our hands, you see. We have direct control over how much a vacation would cost, and all we need is sound financial planning and a dedication to find the best deals available.

The question is not “where to find cheap vacations?” Rather, what you should be asking is this: how could you ensure a cheap vacation for yourself and your family? Here are some tips to help you out.

* Quality supercedes quantity. You don’t have to purchase a lot of items to guarantee a great time. You will spend your vacation for the experience, and experience can never be facilitated by material things. Keep this in mind when preparing what to bring and planning what to buy.

* You don’t need expensive lodging. Remember, you’ll be in a foreign place. You will go out to experience the culture and view the beautiful sceneries. Most of the time, you’ll be outside. A serviceable room would be enough for your purposes.

* Don’t settle for the first restaurant you’d see. Consult the locals what the best deal in town is, one which would not compromise the taste of the food for the price you would stand to save.

* Tips can pile up to quite a substantial sum. Remember, tips are never mandatory. They are optional. You have the liberty not to extend some. Since cheap vacations are what you have in mind, you have to remind yourself that you don’t have the luxury of providing for tips. You could spend the money on something else, after all.

* Public transportation is always, always more affordable than a taxi cab or a hired vehicle. Also, you’d be able to immerse yourself in the place if you’d resort to the common transportation that the locals themselves use.

Cheap vacations are often manufactured. You have the power to make any vacation as budget-friendly as possible. So instead of looking for cheap vacations, try to condition your mind that it’s all in your hands.

"It was like 40 bucks a day" >You could do that fairly easy "if" that was $40 per day each.

If that was $40 total for both then that would be considerable tougher. You would have to find a hotel for $20 or less a night, then eat inexpensive meals. >I stayed at the Orleans in 2004 for 10 nights, total cost $163.50 including tax. In 2005 the same deal was $20 per night last year it was $25(I'm beginning to see a patern here :) )

On the same trip in 2004 I found a 2 star hotel/casino for $9 and that was for 2 nights($4.50 per) – No, none of those rates are from marketing or comp offers. All were found over the internet, and anyone could have booked them.

I do have the Gold Coast(10) & El Cortez(2) booked for 12 nights in December, total cost $254 – I am also taking advantage of 7 comp nights from 2 other hotels >I don't think I will be doing anymore 31 comp night trips like 6/4 – 7/5 of this year<

What I do is begin searching as far in advance as possible – up to 1 year – Because you never know when a special will pop up – For a December trip, it could be in January like it was this year for the Gold Coast – Or in June like it was for the $15 per night rate at the Orleans in 2004 –

It's a good idea to know what dates "generally" have the best deals > For the rest of this year the best rates are from November 18th until December 28th.

If you want to search next year, try Memorial Day for 4 nights or the same for Labor Day.

    Where I search
    http://www.travelworm.com
    http://www.hotels.com

I use those sites to compare rates with the hotel/casino web sites.

Sign up for e-mail updates from any hotel you're interested in they will send you special offers when they become available.

This is a good site to check
http://www.cheapovegas.com >they have a page where people list the specials they have taken advantage of.

You could always check the travel section of the LA Times, your library should have a copy. There are often special offers in the LA Times that are not found anywhere else.

There is no ONE magic place to check, that would be too easy. Special deals can come from many sources. Sam's Town offered a special all summer long(5/28 – 9/27), $26.99 you just had to be on their e-mail list.

And of course it never hurts to ask, in a public forum if someone knows of a special. You either need to be more specific with your dates >I need 12/16 for 4 nights , I'm interested in these amenities. Or, I'm flexible does anyone know of a great deal.

I use the Las Vegas Advisor forums, they have over 30,000 paid members – Between the staff of the Advisor & the members, very little happens in LV that I can't find out about.

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years. And, we go "on the cheap". This year (6/4 – 7/5) & (12/13/07 – 1/1/08)>so far, I have a hard time saying no to a super deal :) )

You could go to Boston! It's a really fun city (I used to live there) that has everything from great shopping to amazing restaurants and tons of tourist attractions. Its a relatively short drive from New York (probably 5-6 hours) and its a really fun place. You can take a duck tour, enjoy a horse and carriage ride, or go to one of Boston's fascinating museums. I hope this helps in planning your spring break vacation! Have fun!

Why not compromise? Here is what I would do, first give yourself a little more time. Secondly, here would be my road trip…. I too am quirky, I like history, roughin it, but a nice hotel can be a welcome thing. Drive to Vegas, get a decent room, do some gambling and drinking. From Vegas drive to Goldpoint, Nevada. It's a ghost town that is in a preserved state of decay. Here you can rent a cabin. They have a functioning bar, site-seeing trips etc. Here is the link http://www.goldpointghosttown.com/. From there I would go North, you have many options. Go to Reno, Lake Tahoe or Virginia City. All have various options for fun and you have your choice if you want to camp or stay in a hotel. Here is a link that will tell you a lot. http://www.visitrenotahoe.com/ From any of these locations you can go to say maybe Soldier Meadow's Bed and Breakfast. It is out past the Black Rock Desert where the notorious Burning Man Festival is held. They have a number of options, you can camp, stay in there bunkhouse or rent one of the cabins. They serve breakfast and dinner and the meals are fantastic (and huge). This is a working cattle ranch, so you can rent horses, etc. There are hot springs here and the beautiful High Rock Canyon is nearby if you have a sturdy 4×4. Here is there link http://www.soldiermeadows.com/.

Hope I gave you some ideas where you can have wierd quirky fun, rough-it a little but not too much. Whatever you do, have fun and be safe.

It depends on where you're departing from and I'll see what I can do to help.

I went to Barbados for about 2 weeks from Toronto for $675.00 CAD before Christmas in 2004.

So try to book flights earlier, before they go up. And remember, airfares change everyday.

If you have a credit card, you could always check http://www.kayak.com/ although I never used it – Because I don't own a credit card but I've used it to search.
